MARKETING STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION FOR NONPROFITS & SMALL BUSINESSES

Connecting Strategy, People, and Results.

Most nonprofits and small businesses have a clear vision and strategies for achieving their goals. What they don’t have are the resources to connect the pieces and keep everything moving forward.

I help nonprofits and small businesses turn ideas into action. I bring structure to strategic plans by creating realistic timelines, building practical processes, coordinating teams and managing projects from planning through execution.

Whether you're launching a new initiative, managing ongoing campaigns or trying to accomplish more with a small team, I help ensure the right work gets done by the right people at the right time.

Approach

THE GAP  |  Strategic Plan vs. Execution

It's rarely a lack of passion. It's that ownership of carrying the plan forward doesn't exist.

Without the right systems in place, even the best strategy falls apart. Teams chase the loudest priority, react instead of plan, duplicate work and struggle to make meaningful progress.

I build the structure that turns strategy into consistent execution. By creating the right processes, timelines and accountability, I help your team move from planning to doing.

It starts with three essentials:

Strategy Implementation Process

Clear processes

For how work actually gets done, so execution doesn't depend on memory or improvisation.

Strategy Tools

Simple tools

So information doesn't live in one person's head and the plan survives turnover.

Strategy Implementation Structure

A sustainable structure

Built around the goals and resources you already have, not a bigger team you don't have.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE  |  Four core disciplines

Every organization is different. I create the structure your team needs to turn marketing plans into consistent execution.
Process Design

WORKFLOWS | STANDARDS

Documented processes for how campaigns, content and approvals actually move and are not dependent on one person's memory.

Standards and templates that keep execution consistent as your team changes.

Marketing Systems

TOOLS | INFRASTRUCTURE

From your website and email platform to content calendars and digital assets, everything works together and stays easy to manage.

A single source of truth for assets, calendars and messaging.

Team Structure

ROLES | OWNERSHIP

Clear roles, responsibilities, and ownership so everyone knows what they're accountable for.

A shared process instead of relying on one person to hold everything together.

Execution Cadence

BUDGET | CALENDAR

A defined budget and implementation calendar that turns strategy into scheduled work.

Regular reporting helps you measure progress, make informed decisions and keep your plan moving forward.

WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING

When Susan joined our organization, we were a young nonprofit with big ambitions but very little communications infrastructure — and honestly, it felt overwhelming. She built the function from the ground up, and for the first time, everyone understood their role and work moved forward without constant oversight. I finally felt like I could breathe and focus on leading instead of coordinating every detail myself. If you're looking for someone who can build a communications function that actually works, I recommend her wholeheartedly.

You have a marketing plan. It made sense on paper. But nothing's moving.

It's not a lack of passion, it's that your team is stretched thin, reacting to whatever's loudest instead of executing what's planned. Work gets duplicated. No one's sure who owns what. Information lives in one person's head, and when they're out, the plan stalls with them.

The strategy isn't the problem. The structure to carry it out is.

I've spent my career building and operationalizing marketing strategy for nonprofit, B2B, and B2C organizations in leadership roles including Marketing and Communications Director, Chief Marketing and Operations Officer, and Marketing Director.

That track record is backed by nearly three decades working across sectors from underwriting risk for Fortune 500 companies to nonprofit communications, to B2B technology marketing.  I’ve gained an innate understanding of how things actually work. A donor, a client, and a policyholder don't think exactly alike, but the process is the same: understand what actually drives a decision, then build a plan the people around you can execute with the resources they have.

What I've seen every time, across every sector, is that a good plan doesn't fail for lack of ideas, it fails for lack of structure: no clear owner, no workflow, no system built for the team running it.  Give a lean staff the right processes and tools, and they can execute like a much bigger organization.

That's what I bring to Executive Directors and Founders: a plan built on what genuinely works, and the training their team needs to carry it forward.
